September 24, 2019, Vahak Hanessian, a junior at Community High School, was sworn in as a Volunteer Junior Firefighter in Park Ridge, New Jersey.
As a Junior Firefighter, Vahak must complete multiple training drills. He practices fire fighting techniques, including communication using radios, practicing first aid, maintaining firefighting gear, and responding to emergency calls. Vahak also meets the academic requirement to participate.
Volunteering in this capacity serves as a personal development tool. The opportunity gives Vahak a chance to learn about local fire, rescue, and emergency medical services. It also demonstrates the response of emergencies safely while building valuable experience.
Vahak would like to continue his volunteer work at the Park Ridge Fire Station and eventually move up through the Fire Department ranks.
We are incredibly proud of Vahak's volunteer work ethic.
